The speeding in CP has to stop.

It’s gotten out of hand.

My message today is about Coleman St.

It’s a short, straight-stretch of road but with the extreme traffic numbers, the noise has become unbearable. The 50kph is too high of a maximum speed. In addition, you are allowing motorists to speed.

There are only a few of us living along Coleman, but we deserve the same respect as all residents of CP. It’s clear we not being respected; with how the town & OPP are ignoring Coleman traffic.

Take 5-10 minutes and imagine what it would be like, not being able to enjoy your back yards. Note that although a few houses our back yards are ~10 feet from the road.

Coleman needs to become 40kph max.

New neighbours move in about a year ago. When we welcomed them to CP, they replied with a thank you and then immediately said ‘we regret moving here’ (because of Coleman). We felt sick to our stomachs, hearing this. The town and the OPP should feel sick to their stomachs. Buying a home is the single most important investment people make in their lives. And within a couple weeks they are regretting it.

They’ve been renovating ever since in preparation to sell. It’s rumored, all our (single) homes have depreciated in value because of being along Coleman.

and motorists allowed to exceed the speed limit

Over the past years everyone I’ve spoken to (regarding speeding in CP) have told me the town is well aware of the speeding. Which I most certainly agree. How could they not?

McNeely typically 60 to 80 (max 60?)

Coleman typically 50 to 70 (max 50?)

Franktown typically 50 to 70 (max 50?)

My message today is about Coleman St.

The traffic has trippled and the noise has trippled. Its a short ‘straight-stretch of road .

I magine not being able to enjoy your back yard.

Welcomed them to CP. Immediately after saying thank you, the husband said they regret moving here (speeding & noise of Coleman)). I felt sick to my stomach upon hearing that. The single most important investment (a home) in peoples lifes and they regret it a month later.

The town should feel sick to their stomach. The CP-OPP should feel sick to their stomach.

 loud and dangerous

Finally CP added a crosswalk (only after complaints) but now it’s a dangerous crosswalk. The town and OPP are letting motorists speed. Letting motorists exceed the 50k max. All vehicle types including dump trucks, garbage trucks, delivery trucks, transport trucks well over 50k/hr. Why no concern for the affects to the stopping distances.

My wife and neighbour use the signal-crosswalk daily and routinely see motorists not stopping. The other day my wide said “3” vehicles didn’t stop. Three!

I finally witnessed it myself. I was turning left onto Park St., a lady pushing a baby carriage stopped after pushing the button. Luckily see saw the truck behind me not slowing down.

Do we blame the traffic, the motorists? After all they can speed and don’t see the flashing lights til last minute or see them & realize no time to stop.

While surrounding towns, cities are clamping down on speeding, with speed radars, reduced 50k/hr to 40k/hr streets, slowdown signs everywhere; CP encourage it. Encourage it by doing little to nothing about it. The town and OPP squandered a perfect opportunity to finally put an end to the speeding in town. With the too-fast growth of homes the town had many (still ongoing) new residents, new motorists that could have (should have) been shown the message, there’s no speeding in CP. Instead you stuck with the status quo. Now most everyone doesn’t even consider speed limits in CP. McNeely is a constant 70 to 80. Franktown 60 to 70. Coleman St., 50 to 70.

Too many red flags now, it’s disturbing.

- speeding tolerances allowed for town streets

- residents safety second after motorists

- majority of collisions now at faster speeds

- increased difficulty at intersections judging how fast a car is coming

- ignoring Coleman crosswalk

Stop putting motorists, traffic ahead of CP residents' well-being and safety.

Roy - I think Darche has so much on his plate, he'll give Roy a season to prove himself. Saves him adding coach & staff to his to-do-list. As for me I didn't like a lot of things with Roy but have to say it was a season of injuries. A lot of injuries. So for just that reason alone I'll be ok if he's given another season. But… we need a new PP coach immediately.
