Pick the winning teams each Saturday - Be the Poolie with the most correct wins... & you win the Pool.

DUKs HNIC PGP Did yoU Know ( DUK )

DUKs are added throughout the pool season. They are initiated by Poolies questions, comments and my own tidbits. Have a look… scroll about.

NOTE

A friendly reminder: The 'thenhljl' has been creating & managing hockey pools for ~30 years and have implemented numerous steps and processes to provide credible pools and maintain a reputation for fairness with each pool. Integrity has remained our highest priority from the very beginning.

The Standings: Saturday winners are hi-lited green, as are cash card Saturdays.

You can partake, pay entry fee and never complete a PGP Card and still win.

Each Card will be “auto-submitted” for you with the set defaults. These default values can win reg &/or cash Saturdays, and possibly the Pool.

Defaults

Did you know?

Total Goals (tie-breaker) is often used in deciding winners. Therefore your Total Goals number, is significant. Replacing the default “40” is highly recommended.

Multiple entries by one Poolie are accepted. For each additional entry the Poolie’s entry fee is $35/entry.

When each Sat’s Ws/Ls are calculated, so are the previous Sat’s re-calculated.

A re-check is also done on Wednesdays, when the online PGP Card is switched-over to the next Sat.

If ever you see an error with anyone’s Ws/Ls, please report it immediately. Finding & correcting errors is best done sooner than later.

At the bottom of the Standings’ page you’ll see “Virtual Poolies”. This table keeps count of home wins vs visitor wins. To satisfy my own curiosity and maybe yours.

Virtual Poolies

Did you know?

The 2024-25 season, Home teams (odds) were surprisingly the better.

As of Jan 4/2025, if you had only picked home teams to win, every Saturday to date, you would have 72 Ws & 38 Ls.   But… see Virtual Poolies(3)below.

On Jan 4/25, this was the highest I’ve seen (Home over Visitor odds), over the past 6 years.

You can make comment, suggestions, complaints by using the Comments Field (found with each online PGP Card). Anything included in this field will not be posted. Only thenhljl (& you) see your comments.

Comments can help everyone, and helps the HNIC PGP Pool itself.

Suggest / Complain

You can ask for a PGP reminder. This is done via text message. You’ll need to provide your cell number. Each Saturday you’ll receive a text (between 9:30 am & 12:00 pm). Note: You are still responsible to remember on your own, if for any reason, you do not receive a reminder. As backup, you have the “default card”.

Reminders

If a Poolie enters more than once, each additional entry is only $35.

Previous Standings

Did you know?

On Jan 11, 2024-25, Visitors surprised all by winning 11 of 15 games.

Yes you can win by not doing anything; letting the default PGP Card ride. However, this is not recommended as a strategy for all Saturdays thru the entire Pool season.

Virtual Poolies(3)

Did you know?

It’s recommended you check your own wins & losses each Saturday and immediately report any error(s). Feel free to check others.

Do you, check your own wins & losses?

Do You Check

Did you know?

You can use the comments field for suggestions, questions & new ideas? One Poolie wrote, can team names be used vs team cities’ names; or can you use both?  ie: Ottawa, Senators, Ottawa Senators. No other Poolies commented therefore team names remain as is.

Comments - Team Names

Did you know?

Following the last PGP Saturday, winners are not made “official” until a double check of all wins & losses over the season. Therefore the official announcement is on the following Monday. This is approximately 24 hours after W’s & L’s are check Sunday morning.

The final Poolie #s will be confirmed on the first Saturday. While many Poolies inform me (in advance) they're participating, it’s very likely new entries are submitted on Saturday. As a result, the first Sat., tends to be busy busy. You can expect updates on the HNIC PGP Central Pages throughout the day, but the Poolies' Picks page is updated between 1:00 PM and ~1:15 PM. It includes all picks submitted from mid-week up until the 1:00 PM deadline. Pls remember, each Poolie submission includes a date/time stamp.

Reminder the Final Saturday winner is treated like all the other Saturday winners. Most wins, win. The Pool winners are determined differently. This Sat Apr 11 results 6 Poolies tied; as the 6 were auto-submits with Tie-Breaker not relevant (all had “40” goals). If the 6 had tied for 1st or 2nd place then their total goals for the season would have been calculated to determine 1st & 2nd pl. These 6 Poolies will share the $40. The amount is rounded off to $6.00 per Poolie and can be a cash handout or treated like a discount off any future thenhljl Pool. Winners will be contacted individually on Apr 13.

Second place winner will be determined by their total goals for the season compared to the actuall total goals for the season. The Poolie closest with the results win 2nd place. If still tied the Poolie closest without going over will win. If still tied then Poolies will share the prize.

Expect all HNIC PGP pages to be updated with results, calcs, news and info over the 24hr period (Sunday morning thru Monday morning). Check back often. Refreshing pages will help ensure you are looking at the latest.

Everyone feel free to email me your comments, complaints, suggestions etc… during this time. Your remarks help improve the HNIC PGP.
